Steel JSPL Q2 up 76% Our Bureau New Delhi, Oct 29 Buoyant sales in steel products has pushed Jindal Steel and Power Limited’s (JSPL) net profit for the second quarter ended September 30, 2007 up by 76.47 per cent to Rs 277.47 crore. JSPL for the corresponding previous quarter recorded a net profit of Rs 157.23 crore. The net sales for the second quarter of the current fiscal recorded a 61-per-cent growth to Rs 1,269.04 core as compared to Rs 789.64 crore in the corresponding previous quarter. A release issued by the company indicated that the production of steel products during the quarter under review recorded a growth of 87 per cent to 3,03,120 mt as against 1,62,235 mt in the same period last year. The sales of steel products including internal consumption was up 70 per cent to 2,72,214 mt as compared to 1,59,779 mt in the corresponding previous quarter. Shares of the company on Monday closed 5.99 per cent up at Rs 8,884.80 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. More Stories on : Steel
