Kolkata, Oct. 29

The Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Association of India (FHRAI) plans to set up three hotel management institutes in the eastern, western and southern parts of the country over the next three to five years, according to Mr Dinesh Khanna, Chairman and Managing Director, FHRAI.

The proposed institutes will be developed on the lines of FHRAI’s existing hotel management institute in Greater Noida. “We plan to have hotel management institutes in all the four regions. Currently, we have an institute in Greater Noida. Nearly Rs 15-20 crore investment will be required to set up these institutes. The investment will be funded through a combination of debt and donations from our members,” Mr Khanna told newspersons here.

The second institute is likely to come up in Kolkata and FHRAI will formally approach the State Government for procurement of land.

“We had a discussion with the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, and he has welcomed the idea. We will formally approach the State Government subject to approval from our board members,” Mr Rajesh Mishra, former President of FHRAI, said.

The existing hotel management institute in Greater Noida, spread over six acres of land, has been operational for the past one and half years and has more than 200 students.
