CNG supply

The news of the Great Eastern group venturing into supply of CNG from coal bed methane in a JV with IOC is welcome for it is an attempt to translate into reality the concept of harnessing methane stuck in coal seams. The company is the first to venture into such production among so many licensees, including big oil and gas companies.

There are also vast natural resources of gas in and around Agartala, but there has been no initiative to convert it into viable fuel to supply light automobiles that run on gas through regular dispensing stations. GAIL/ONGC could also enter into similar JVs as they are going to work in the Asansol area.
