NELP VII launch postponed to Dec
Our Bureau
New Delhi, Nov 1 The launch of the seventh licensing round of oil and gas exploration blocks has been deferred by a month and is now expected to be launched in December.
The Petroleum Secretary, Mr M.S. Srinivasan, told newspersons that “because Parliament session has been advanced to mid-November, we have now decided to launch it (the auction) in December.”
Overseas roadshows for the next licensing round will take place in January and February.
The seventh round of the New Exploration Licensing Policy (NELP) was earlier expected to be launched in November. NELP-VII, in which 57 oil and gas blocks would be offered for bidding, will now be launched after the winter session of Parliament ends on December 7.
Mr Srinivasan said, “the present thinking is that the round may be announced soon after Parliament session and data rooms opened for viewing by interested companies.
Roadshows in the US, Europe and Australia will be held only after the Christmas and New Year holidays.”
In NELP-VI, India had offered 52 blocks. Of the 57 blocks to be offered in NELP-VII, 19 are in deepsea, 9 in shallow water and 29 on land.
