Harshad Mehta’s RIL shares: Court defers sale

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Nov. 2 The Special Court trying the 1992 securities scam has deferred the sale of 24 lakh Reliance Industries shares belonging to the estate of the late Harshad Mehta and has asked the custodian to have a re-look at the modalities of the disposal.

The court gave this ruling on a petition for a stay of the proceedings filed by Ms Jyoti Mehta, wife of Harshad Mehta.

Life Insurance Corporation was one of the bidders for the bundle of shares.

“A decision has been postponed because of the petition seeking a stay.

The court has asked the custodian to critically review the scheme for the sale of shares,” said an LIC source.
