BSI, CII ink pact on standards, best practices

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Nov. 3 The British Standards Institute (BSI), the world’s oldest and largest certification bodies and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for working together in the area of standards and best practice. The two organisations have already been partners in several areas, including food safety standards, sustainability and information security management.

New work areas between the two organisations will include exchange of best practices in the standards development to benefit the Indian businesses.

The MoU was signed by Mr Frank Post, Communications Director-British Standards Institute Group, and Mr. S K Kakkar, Head, CII Institute of Quality.

Providing expertise

Mr Post said: “This agreement is an important step for both the BSI and CII. BSI already provides support for a wide range of products including quality, environmental management and health and safety and we look forward to using our expertise to support the membership of CII and standardisation in India.”

Under the terms of the MoU, the BSI and CII have identified co-operation in areas like joint events seminars and conferences, exchange of information on best practice and BSI providing technical expertise to CII to develop and implement standards.
