Hyderabad, Nov. 7 Over one lakh jobs would be provided to rural youth in Andhra Pradesh under Employment Guarantee and Marketing Mission (EGMM) in the current fiscal year, according to Mr Chinna Reddy, State Minister for Rural Development.

The openings in different sectors had already been identified and efforts were on to train the youth from the families of Self Help Groups in the State. “Under EGMM, we have already trained 45,000 youths and another 53,000 have been identified for training,” Mr Reddy told newspersons here on Wednesday. The EGMM has been implemented in the State in public-private participation mode since 2005, he added.

The trained boys and girls did register an “excellent placement record,” he said. “There has been up to 90 per cent placements. Most of them are being absorbed in security agencies, retail, banking and construction.”
