New Products & Services Xenitis’ Global Automobiles launches 100 cc ‘Rock 100’ Our Bureau Kolkata, Nov. 7 Xenitis Group company Global Automobiles on Wednesday announced the launch of a “people’s motorcycle” — the “Rock 100”. The 100 cc motorcycle has been priced at affordable levels “to enable the common man to ride a bike”, said Mr Santanu Ghosh, Chairman of the Xenitis Group. Speaking at a launch function held here , Mr Ghosh said Global Automobiles had set up eastern India’s first two-wheeler manufacturing facility at Hooghly district in West Bengal at an investment of Rs 300 crore. Earlier this year, the company had launched the “Xpression” range of 125 cc motorcycles. While most of the company’s marketing network was spread across eastern and north-eastern India, with the launch of the new bike the company would reach out to other parts of the country. Consequently, the number of dealer points would go up from the current 200 to 350 by the end of this year. Mr Ghosh said the company was geared to manufacture 30,000 motorcycles a month on a single-shift basis. Orders in hand for domestic delivery were pegged at 1.6 lakh units even as firm export orders and enquiries have been received from Iran, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Africa and Nepal. The Xenitis Group, which recorded a turnover of Rs 620 crore in 2006-07, expected a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore in the current fiscal, he said.
