Plea against shifting SBI branch

Kochi, Nov. 9

The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed concern over the reported move to shift the Kochi Branch of State Bank of India to Thoppumpady area, saying that it would bring enormous difficulties to the business community, service providers and the public in Mattanchery, Jew Town and Fort Cochin. The Chamber President, Mr R. Mohandas, in a statement issued here pointed out that the Kochi Branch of SBI has been playing a predominant role in the process of development of this commercial centre of historical importance. - Our Bureau
