IT Training Industry & Economy - Employment 24x7 Learning offers job-ready skills for engg grads online “Students are aware that companies require skills beyond those offered in regular engineering courseware and they are willing to groom themselves.” V. Rishi Kumar Hyderabad, Nov. 11 24x7 Learning has designed SkillBridge — an employability enhancement programme for fresh engineering graduates. This courseware, offered through a combination of online learning systems and instructor-lead approach, offers to enhance verbal and non-verbal communication (including etiquette) skills to make them industry-ready. The demand for such courses is on the rise, especially among students from colleges in Tier II cities and rural areas. Mr K.S. Karthik, founder and CEO of 24x7 Learning, told Business Line that students are aware that companies require skills beyond those offered in regular engineering courseware and they are willing to groom themselves. As companies look to new regions for talent, many engineering colleges have begun to partner for this e-learning model where they can log in and access all the learning material, he explained. While many technology enterprises have developed learning capabilities in-house, they also look to other specialists for some training modules. Some companies and educational institutions prefer assisted/lead eLearning programmes. “India churns out about 3.5 million graduates a year and of these about 10 per cent are directly employable. Even if we convert one per cent of this into employable pool this would add about 35,000people to the employable pool. This is a compelling reason for colleges and States to look to this option. We are in talks with several States for SkillBridge solutions,” Mr Karthik said. As an eLearning technology solutions provider, 24x7 Learning manages 21 virtual corporate universities and partners over 150 enterprises in the country, including M&M, Essar and Murgappa group. The SkillBridge concept complements the enterprise learning business and has the potential to make a big difference to students in engineering colleges, Mr Karthik said.
