Economic Offences States - Karnataka ‘Corruption may hit investments in India’ Our Bureau Mangalore, Nov. 12 Widespread corruption in society may affect investment prospects of the country, according to the Karnataka Lokayukta, Justice N. Santosh Hegde. Inaugurating the vigilance awareness week at New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) on Monday, Justice Hegde said that many foreign companies are planning to invest in the country, and corruption may slow down investments by them. This may bring down job opportunities for youths, he said. There is a need to bring changes in procedural and legal systems in India to bring down corruption in society. He said that he has been visiting schools in the State to create awareness among young minds about the impact of corruption on society. Terming corruption as a social problem, he said society recognised corruption as a part of the system. Stating that corruption can’t be eradicated totally from society, Justice Hegde said people have negative attitude towards its eradication. Mr P.
