Sundaram BNP Paribas launches energy sector fund

Mumbai, Nov. 14 Sundaram BNP Paribas Mutual, an asset management company, has launched Sundaram BNP Paribas Select Thematic Funds Energy Opportunities, which is a three-year close-ended equity fund with an automatic conversion into an open-ended scheme on expiry of three years.

The fund opened for subscriptions on November 12 and will close on December 11.

Objective

The investment objective of the fund is to seek long-term capital appreciation by investing in equity and equity-related instruments of companies in the domestic market and benefiting from opportunities and developments in the energy sector.

The fund managers will seek to invest more than 65 per cent of net assets in equity shares of the targeted theme, up to 35 per cent of its net assets in instruments outside the theme, and up to 15 per cent in treasury bills, Collateralised Borrowing and Lending Obligation (CBLO), and reverse repo.

The scheme offers both growth and dividend-payout options.

Exit load

The minimum investment in the fund would be Rs 5,000 and in multiples of Re 1 thereafter and the minimum additional purchase amount is Rs 500.

There is no entry and exit load and the redemption will be at applicable NAV after deducting proportionate unamortised expenses.

Probable investment

“The investment does not have any market capitalisation bias and investments will take place across spaces, with a probable investment of around 40-45 per cent in large cap segment, 30-35 per cent in mid-cap segment, whereas the balance in small-cap segment,” said Mr S. Krishnakumar, fund Manager & Head Research, Sundaram BNP Paribas Mutual.
