L&T-Paul Wurth consortium bags SAIL order

Mumbai, Nov 15 Engineering and construction company Larsen & Toubro Ltd in consortium with Paul Wurth has bagged a Rs 580.74-crore order from SAIL to upgrade blast furnace No. 2 at Bokaro Steel Plant on a turnkey basis.

L&T’s Construction Division, ECC, will execute the order. L&T’s portion of the order is valued at Rs 355.02 crore.

Paul Wurth’s scope covers basic engineering, supply of proprietary and special equipment as well as technical services. L&T’s will provide detail engineering, supply of indigenous mechanical and electrical equipment, besides instrumentation works as well as complete site services encompassing civil, structural and erection works.

The project is to be completed in 21 months including a shutdown period of 150 days.

L&T, along with Paul Wurth, is executing a 2.5-MTPA blast furnace on a turnkey basis at Tata Steel, Jamshedpur. The consortium is also executing similar blast furnaces for RINL - Vizag Steel Plant and Bhushan Steel Ltd for their Meramandali plant at Angul, Orissa.

L&T recently bagged orders from Tata Steel for setting up the Kalinganagar Project.
