Rupee ends flat

Mumbai, Nov. 15

The rupee ended flat at 39.31/32 against the dollar on Thursday on sustained intervention by the Reserve Bank of India. "The rupee was largely range-bound today as the central bank was constantly intervening in the forex market in order to cap the appreciation of the currency," said a dealer with a private bank. The rupee opened at 39.31/32 and after trading in a thin range, closed at 39.31/32.

Foreign exchange dealers, however, feel that the rupee would strengthen further. In forwards, the six-month premia closed at 1.50 per cent (1.41 per cent) and the 12-month at 1.18 per cent (1.15 per cent).- Our Bureau
