New Fund Offer
Mr Vivek Kudva (left), President, Franklin Templeton India with Mr Sukumar Rajah, CIO, Franklin Equity and Principal Portfolio Manager at a press conference to launch Franklin Asian Equity Fund in Mumbai. — Our Bureau Mumbai, Nov. 15 Franklin Templeton Investments (India) will be launching a new open-ended equity fund called Franklin Asian Equity Fund. The fund will invest in companies in the Asian region (excluding Japan) and Asia-related companies across market capitalisation regions. The new fund offer period will be open between November 19and December 18, at Rs 10 per unit plus the applicable load. The scheme will then be re-opened on January 17. The minimum investment for this fund will be Rs 5,000 and will be multiples of Re 1 thereafter. The entry for investments less than Rs 5 crore will be 2.25 per cent, whereas the exit load for investments less than Rs 5 crore is 0.5 per cent. The benchmark would be MSCI Asia (ex-Japan) Standard Index. “We will be following a growth investment style focused on companies with relatively better growth prospects, return on equity, return on capital employed ratios and also focus on mis-priced companies. Unlike many of the other funds investing in Asia, we will follow a blended bottom-up and top-down approach that we believe is ideal for tapping into Asian growth opportunities,” said Mr Sukumar Rajah, Director and CIO, Franklin Equity and Principle Portfolio Manager of the fund.
