Accord Software launches NextNav

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Nov.16 Accord Software has developed Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) software that will have an application value to smaller aircraft in meeting the challenges of flight safety management. The company on Thursday announced the launch of NextNav, an airborne GPS (global positioning system) sensor that can track satellite signals and provide highly accurate position, velocity and time. The technology, developed indigenously by Accord, can also track Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) satellites to provide information of highest level of accuracy, said Mr J.M. Sundaresan, CEO and Managing Director.

Briefing media persons, Mr Sundaresan said NextNav could be used as a primary sensor for navigation and landing during various phases of flight with a pilot being able to fly at 60 metres height from the runway safely with the assistance of NextNav. The sensor can also permit aircraft landing during reduced visibility and avoid collision, both in flight and on ground.

Armed with the certification from the Federal Aviation Administration of US, Accord Software hopes to market 25,000 sensors in five years. The company has entered into a tie up with a US company Spectralux Corporation for the manufacture of its IPR product, said Mr Sundaresan.
