Hyderabad, Nov. 16 Wipro Ltd has obtained an injunction from a Hyderabad court against what it termed was a misleading advertisement released by Godrej for the latter’s soap brand claiming it as No.1. Incidentally, Godrej’s soap is called Godrej No.1. According to a statement from Wipro, the advertisement which had disparaging comparisons to Santoor Soap was challenged by the company on the ground that the advertisement was unfair, unethical, incorrect and misleading. The court accepted Wipro’s plea and passed interim injunction orders restraining Godrej from continuing the disparaging advertisement till further orders.

The Senior Vice-President, Wipro Consumer Care, Mr Anil Chugh, told Business Line: “Santoor was one of the largest soap brands in Andhra Pradesh and has grown significantly in market share over the years. And we have data to substantiate it was better.”
