Rupee tad lower

Mumbai, Nov. 16

The rupee weakened marginally by two paise against the greenback on Friday and closed at 39.33, down from the previous close of 39.31/32. The home currency opened at an intra-day low of 39.38/39 because of weakness in the global equity markets, and as the market was wary of more financial and economic uncertainty, said a dealer with a private bank. They said that the central bank was not seen intervening in the forex market today. Forex dealers expect the rupee to trade in the 39.25-39.45 range next week. In forwards, the six-month premia closed at 1.47 per cent (1.50 per cent) and the 12-month at 1.18 per cent (1.18 per cent).
