Kochi, Nov. 18The Kerala Government is committed to extending all assistance to non-resident Keralites interested in major logistics and transport ventures in the State, the Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, has said.

Inaugurating the State’s first full-fledged private container freight station (CFS) set up by the Kalamassery-headquartered Falcon Group at Eloor near Kochi, he said that there was immense scope for similar ventures in the State, especially in view of the Vallarpadom International Container Transhipment Terminal, work on which is progressing.

Set up at a cost of Rs 25 crore, with all the most modern facilities for stuffing and de-stuffing, in-house customs clearance and others, the CFS is located in 10.2 acres adjacent to the existing Integrated Services Complex of the Falcon Group.

The CFS has been set up in the backdrop of Kochi’s emergence as a major international maritime hub, Mr N.A. Mohammed Kutty, Managing Director of Falcon Group, said at the inaugural function.

Features

The facility has a total operational area of 10.24 acres for stacking containers and cargo. It has 50,000 sq ft bonded warehousing facility, one of the largest in the country. This will be increased to 1.5 lakh sq ft in the next six months.

The facility is in close proximity to the proposed road and rail links to the Vallarpadom terminal and has modern facilities for stuffing and de-stuffing, in-house customs clearance, and banking.
