Stock Markets Columns - Chat Khan was checking the last time stock market was indecisive about its direction. Dakshinamoorthy was fretting about payment delay after he’d redeemed some of his mutual fund units. Jogin had extra work on hands, compensating for someone in the office on an extended holiday. With her parents fixing up a match for her, Sridevi was talking to ‘him’… Until Khan typed, “You have to see this!” * * * Kay: I did some maths on Sensex movement. Sri: Results? Dax: Have you taken a longish period? Kay: My analysis says, it is going to be like Feb this year. Jog: Where do you get those? A correction now? Dax: Global cues determine market movement Sri: Sensex is passé! Hopefully support for Nifty exists around 5,840. Kay: FII inflows would decide the direction. Dax: Don’t think so. Positive flows from FIIs started. Sri: Yes. They were net buyers on Friday. Jog: Fert stocks in fertile spot after Govt move on sops. Sri: Essar Oil on excellent run. Kay: But any low price stocks? Dax: A lil birdie tells me Century Extrusions improves with volumes. Jog: Then sudden surge in volumes for Bell Ceramics works too. Sri: Try out PNB Gilts. Kay: No bonding with those. Jog: Some news on foreign currency futures. Dax: Showing positive signs of going on stream sooner. Kay: Export-oriented cos may use it as a hedge tool. Sri: Small and mid-caps have shown better growth. Jog: Ignorance is bliss. Are they being ignored for too long now? Dax: Banking stocks look attractive on valuation front. Time to bargain buy? Kay: Uncharted waters. Be careful. Dax: Point. Results have been divided between the PSUs and private banks. Sri: However, liquidity will be the deciding factor. Jog: We can remain invested but look at booking partial profits. Dax: Especially on counters that have run up too fast. Kay: Some kind of market buzz on IDBI. Sri: Old news. Says some kind of re-rating for the stock. Jog: Why? Dax: Nobody knows. There is so much talk of oil and gas finds. Kay: One should look out for potential in the pipe stocks that would transport the oil Sri: Kolte-Patil, Kaushalya…When is this stream of construction IPOs going to cool off? Dax: Is the story still on? Jog: The story appears very much on. Kay: Hinduja TMT has given a breakout from 430 levels…500+ Sri: Talk about broader market. Jog: Will this left nod for IAEA do well? Dax: Chances are good that it might. Sri: No premature elections. Kay: It looks good but those global cues could spoil it. Jog: Putting some money in Nicco Parks. Realty story there. Dax: Don’t come crying back when you burn fingers. Sri: Go slow on adventures. Kay: Gotta catch some old pals. Bye for now. Jog: Maybe all should go…happy trading. * * * Kum with inputs from Vid, Sri, Mad, Vim and Lee Blog at http://MarketChat.blogspot.com Sensex rises 893 pts, highest single-day gain How expensive is the Indian market? Stocks take a beating; Sensex closes below 19K Wish we could say Saawariya of the Sensex! More Stories on : Stock Markets | Chat
