Education Info-Tech - IT Training States - Tamil Nadu HP, Vinayaka Missions tie up Our Bureau Chennai, Nov 19 Vinayaka Missions University (VMU) has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Hewlett Packard to offer technical and soft skills training to about 2,500 undergraduate students belonging to two engineering colleges under the University. About 1,300 engineering students of Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, Chennai, and 1,200 students of Vinayaka Missions Kirupananda Variyar College of Engineering, Salem, would benefit from the training, which would be implemented as part of the curriculum. This includes video based courses covering six branches of engineering, setting up of HP workstations for the mechanical engineering department and making HP laptops available to students at subsidised rates, Dr A.S. Ganesan, Pro-Chancellor, VMU, said at a press conference. HP will fund about Rs 1.6 crore in this initiative in return for which they may be offered the first slot for campus placement in these institutes, said Mr V. Sukumar, Country Manager, Education Solutions, HP. The company has implemented similar education programmes for Amity University, Manipal University and SRM University. Vinayaka Missions University runs 25 institutions offering 135 courses of study including undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes.
