Private Banks States - Karnataka South Indian Bank plans more branches in Karnataka “The number of ATMs will be increased to 200 by the end of December.” Our Bureau Mangalore, Nov. 19 Thrissur-based South Indian Bank (SIB) is focusing on the Karnataka market for development and is planning to open more branches during the current fiscal. Addressing presspersons here on Monday, Dr V.A. Joseph, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, SIB, said the bank would open three more branches in Bangalore and one in Mangalore during the current fiscal. Dr Joseph said the branches will be opened at Jalahalli, Hebbal and Sarjapur in Bangalore and another in Mangalore city. Jalahalli and Hebbal branches are likely to be opened by December, he said. “More branches will be opened in Karnataka in the coming years,” he said. In Karnataka, the bank has a network of 25 CBS (core banking solution) branches with a total business of over 1,800 crore. The bank, which has 485 branches, is planning to open another 15 branches by the end of the current fiscal. The number of ATMs will be increased to 200, from the present 183, by the end of December, he said. Nearly 25 per cent of the bank’s business is from NRIs in West Asia, the UK, the US and Australia. South Indian Bank is providing management support to the Hadi Express Exchange in Sharjah and Dubai. This will help provide quality service to NRIs looking at remittances to India, he added.
