RIL signs deal for Yemen blocks

Mumbai, Nov 20

Reliance Industries said it signed a production sharing agreement on Tuesday for two exploration blocks in Yemen. RIL signed the agreement through its wholly owned subsidiary Reliance Exploration and Production, said a statement from RIL. Hood Energy of Yemen has a 30 per cent participating interest in these blocks, with RIL holding the rest of the stake. The blocks are located in the Jeza basin in eastern Yemen. RIL has been present in Yemen since 2001 when it was allotte d a block, said the statement. Hood Energy and RIL hold 25 per cent each in this block, with Calvalley Petroleum Inc. holding 50 per cent. RIL recently also signed a production sharing contract in Oman. —
