Steel Australian team to take part in Kolkata steel meet Our Bureau Kolkata, Nov. 20 A high-level delegation comprising 15 representatives of top Australian mining companies will participate in the ‘Global Steel 2007’ seminar and conference slated to be held in Kolkata between November 22 and 24. The Australian mining delegation would be led by Mr Ian Macdonald, Minister for Mineral Resources, New South Wales, Australia. According to sources at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi, the delegation will, during their stay in Kolkata, visit a few mines in West Bengal. It will also participate in a seminar on ‘Best Practices in the Mining Industry’ being organised here by the Australian High Commission on November 22. The mining mission to India comes on the back of a hugely successful Indian mining mission to Australia in September 2007 which resulted in several business partnerships and joint ventures involving the Australian and Indian mining industry. Focus issuesDeliberations at Global Steel 2007 seminar and conference will cover the entire gamut of steel making, from raw materials to processes and logistics. Among others who will participate at the event include the Australian High Commissioner to India, Mr John McCarthy; Dr Amit Chatterjee of Tata Steel; the Chairman of SAIL, Mr S.K.
