ONGC I league on Zee & Ten Sports

New Delhi, Nov. 21

The first edition of the ONGC I League will be telecast on Zee Sports and Ten sports. Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting and President of the All India Football Federation Mr Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi inaugurated it on Wednesday. The league matches will be held in Kolkata, Mumbai, Ludhiana and Goa and Kerala. Zee is to telecast live 45 matches with Ten Sports, India simultaneously airing 15 games live. Ten Sports Middle East Zee Sports USA will also telecast some of the matches. "This is a beginning of a new journey we have undertaken to recapture the lost glory of football in India. The process for which has started, with India winning the ONGC Nehru Cup," said Mr Dasmunsi in a statement. I League is one the richest domestic sports tournaments with a Rs 50 lakh cash prize for the winning team. The Federation is trying to woo audiences for the matches by incentivising the clubs to sell tickets. Ninety per cent of the gate collection, after the stadium charges have been deducted, is to go to the clubs. The clubs will also have boards or advertising space reserved for them to sell. - Our Bureau
