Spanish company Roca has launched its premium range of designer faucets in India. The company plans to bring into India more premium products and designer solutions, such as tiles, soon. Roca also plans to expand its retail network from 30 showrooms to 50 by March 2008.

Last year, Roca had launched its sanitaryware here in India. It entered the country in April 2006 through a 50-50 joint venture with EID Parry.

Consumer preference

Mr A. Vellayan, Vice-Chairman, Murugappa Group, said, lot of consumers today are looking at designer bathrooms with European designs and especially Spanish flavour is in demand.

“Roca is getting firmly established in India’s premium bathroom segment. The launch of taps will further strengthen Roca’s brand offerings in India,” he said. Real estate player Puravankara and GMR International have expressed interest in Roca, he added.

Upbeat on India

Mr Domingo Colomo, Senior Managing Director, Corporate Development, Roca Sanitario, was also optimistic about the Indian market and the response to its brand here.

Parryware Roca hopes to soon start manufacturing Roca sanitaryware in India at EID Parry’s four manufacturing facilities in the country.

Mr K.E. Ranganthan, Managing Director, Parryware Roca, said, “We plan to garner a market share of 25 per cent in the Rs 250-crore premium sanitary ware and faucets market in two years.”
