Industry Associations States - West Bengal All city chambers of commerce join hands with WBIDC
A decision has also been taken to hold regular monthly meetings at the district-level to address problems and promote small and medium scale industries. Our Bureau Kolkata, Nov. 22 All business chambers in the city have joined hands with the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) in its drive for industrialisation of the State. The West Bengal Industry Minister, Mr Nirupam Sen, on Wednesday held a meeting with the Chambers of Commerce to mark the beginning of a series of such meetings to be held every quarter. The chambers have been advised to identify the skill-sets required to serve the new industries coming up so that a better manpower fit emerges, resulting in more employment generation. It is learnt that the skills identified would then be incorporated in relevant syllabus of institutions like it is to train the manpower required to serve the emerging industries in the State. According to chamber sources, the primary aim was to use the common platform of both the Chambers and WBIDC to promote entrepreneurship and industrialisation of West Bengal. A decision has also been taken to hold regular monthly meetings at the district-level to address the problems and promote small and medium scale industries in the State. A committee comprising the Gram Sabhadipati, District Magistrate, WBPCB, WBSEB and DIC officers will now hold monthly meetings to discuss and take decisions on all issues of the SME sector at a district level, which earlier used to be referred to Kolkata. Chamber representatives are also expected to attend all such meetings.
