Injunction against Wipro ad

Mumbai, Nov. 23

Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) makers of Ezee liquid detergent has obtained an injunction in a Punjab Court on Friday against the advertisement released by Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting (WCCL) for its liquid detergent brand Wipro SafeWash. The ad had directly compared Wipro Safewash to Godrej Ezee. GCPL had filed a petition challenging the advertisement by WCCL on the grounds that the ad was disparaging and misleading the consumer. The Civil Judge, Ludhiana District Court restrained WCCL from such advertising in any form, direct or indirect. The Court has passed an ad interim injunction order restraining Wipro from continuing the controversial advertisement. Ezee is the market leader in the liquid detergent category with a 81 per cent share. - Our Bureau
