Achuthanandan asks officials to act promptly

Our Bureau

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 23 Government officials should ensure that the benefits of welfare programmes and development initiatives reach beneficiaries without any delay, said the Chief Minister, Mr V. S. Achuthanandan.

Addressing the annual conference of district collectors and other officials in the city today, the Chief Minister said that modern technology should be used to hasten the delivery of services to citizens. Efforts are required to ensure that the benefits of pension schemes, rehabilitation programmes and special assistance programmes reach people in time, he added.

Steps should be taken in the collectorates and taluk offices to ensure that public grievances are addressed in a time-bound manner. More measures are needed for reviving agriculture. Collectors should take steps to recover revenue arrears and mobilise small savings, he added.
