SCR staff prepare for secret ballot

Hyderabad, Nov. 25 With the 16 Railway zones going to secret polls for the first time for recognised trade unions, the employees’ unions in the zone have stepped up campaign to get majority votes.

Elections will be held from November 26 to 28, where 13.5 lakh employees are expected to cast their votes.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr M. Raghavaiah, General Secretary of National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR), said the union would come out with a plan of action for pressing for multi-fold increase in wages in the Sixth Pay Commission.

Mr Raghavaiah, who is also general secretary of the South Central Railway Employees Sangh, said the association was instrumental in getting several sops.
