The Hindu Business Line : Ad Club BL Quiz on Dec 1

Chennai, Nov. 26 The annual Ad Club Business Line Quiz 2007 will be held this year in Chennai on December 1 at 1.30 pm at Hotel Savera, Dr Radhakrishnan Salai.

The subject areas of the quiz are broadly from the world of business. The multimedia rounds and interactive audience participation will make it a truly ‘infotainment event’.Each team consists of two members. Based on the performance in the qualifying rounds, the top six will make it to the finals.

This year’s event has as its title sponsor Union Bank of India and Singapore Institute of Commerce as the Associate Sponsor. There are prizes worth Rs 50,000 in cash and much more in the form of gift hampers, coupons and goodies from various sponsors. The winning team and the runners-up get a pair of television sets from lead prize sponsors Samsung. The entry fee is Rs 2,500 for corporate teams and a special discounted fee of Rs 750 for student teams. This year’s quiz is expected to generate big audience participation because of the special rounds for the audience, with prizes galore thrown in.

The quiz master, Giri ‘Pickbrain’ Balasubramaniam, who has anchored over 850 shows, heads Greycaps, India’s third largest quiz company, headquartered in Bangalore. He has been nominated for the prestigious Global Innovator Award 2005 and 2006 by MIT of the US for using quizzing as an alternative tool for education to enhance IT awareness in rural India. . A recipient of the prestigious ‘Internet Oscar’ nomination at the Asian Internet Awards 2001 (Singapore), Giri Balasubramaniam has authored several quiz books, such as ‘Know IT Better’.
