Just a listener

We ran into the scholarly Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank, Mr B. Sambamurthy, and asked him whether he would be speaking at the conference. He disclaimed any such plans and said that he had come only to listen and learn!

One doesn't know whether he saw our eyebrows being raised - because he came up with what seemed like a justification. He alluded to a recent report, which said that a number of Americans in their fifties and sixties were going back to the Universities for graduation and looking at a second career.

He also seemed to think that if the retirement age was enhanced to 62 as indicated in some media reports, the chances of a second career would be bleak. - Our Bureau
