Hyderabad, Nov. 27 Kirloskar Brothers Ltd (KBL), a leading pump manufacturer has bagged over Rs 2,500-crore worth orders in Andhra Pradesh.

The company is in the process of executing 15 major lift irrigation projects, which are expected to convert over 10 lakh hectares of land into arable one, said Mr R.K. Srivastava, Director, KBL, here on Tuesday.

The Rs 1,340-crore turnover pump manufacturer and turnkey contractor, KBL recently acquired Kolhapur steel, a mini steel plant with a production capacity of 500 tonnes per month. In the near term, KBL wants to become a complete water management and solutions provider company. In that direction, it has acquired Gondwana Engineers, which specializes in water & waste water treatment.

Similarly, it has acquired Chennai-based construction company – Aban Construction, which has been renamed Kirloskar Construction & Engineers Ltd, he explained.

On Andhra Pradesh operations, he said the company has recently commissioned the EPC work at the Tadipudi Lift Irrigation project on the banks of Godavari near Rajahmundry.

On global operations, Mr Srivastava said the company did a significant project in Surinam, which has given both that country major benefits in irrigation and also KBL, exposure to pitching for more projects in the global arena.
