IIM-A students land diverse summer placements

Virendra Pandit

Ahmedabad, Nov 27

The summer placement for agri-business management students at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad saw 17 companies from the emerging sectors.

The big names in consultancy like PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and YES Bank speak volumes about the greater job diversity for the students, an IIM-A spokesman said here today.

The new entrants this season were global agri-business giants such as Louis Dreyfus, Miebach Logistics, PWC, YES Bank, GlaxoSmithKline, Aditya Birla Group for their retail venture, Britannia, Nandan Biomatrix and ClarisLifesciences Ltd.

Lately, IIM-A agri-business managers are in demand by the food retail sector.

The students have a wide variety in domains ranging from supply-chain management, retailing, agri and food consulting, finance, market research to strategy formulation. Prof. Piyush Kumar Sinha, Chairperson, Placement Committee of IIM-A, said that though larger number of companies expressed their keenness to offer summer projects and there was a hike in average stipend, what delighted the students was an opportunity to work on high-profile live projects.
