Light takes from RBI's Governor
Mumbai, Nov. 27
As is his wont, Dr Y.V. Reddy, Governor of RBI, made a
few light-hearted comments while delivering his
valedictory address at the second day of BANCON 2007.
He said that while he was coming in, Mr H.N. Sinor,
Chief Executive of Indian Banks' Association, had
mentioned to him that liquidity management was now
getting more attention compared to capital adequacy
issues. Since he was going to talk about the same point,
Dr. Reddy wondered whether his speech had been
leaked. To rub the humour in a little, he said that he had
prepared his speech only the previous evening while in
the car. The document had slipped out of his hand briefly,
but he had picked it up before Mr Sinor could notice what
it contained, he said. - Our Bureau
