Mumbai, Nov 28
KEC International Ltd has said it has won two contracts worth Rs 400 crore in Saudi Arabia and Namibia for construction of power transmission lines.
KEC, part of the RPG group, is a major player in the power transmission EPC business.
The company has got Rs 260 crore contract from the Saudi Arabian Mining Company and Rs 140 crore contract from Namibia-based Nampower for construction of transmission lines. Both contracts are to be completed within 22 months.
“The Saudi Arabian contract is from a mining company, which marks an expansion of our client base from the current clientele that largely comprises utilities,” said Mr Ramesh Chandak, Managing Director of KEC.
The company has been undertaking major contracts in Africa and West Asian countries over a period of time.
In June, the company had won a project in Saudi Arabia worth Rs 95 crore.
The Saudi Arabian contract is for the construction of transmission lines of 123 km and in Namibia, the company would construct a transmission line of 306 km from Bagani to Zambezi.
Mr Chandak added that the turnkey job in Namibia along with a tower supply order obtained earlier in South Africa, marks KEC’s full-fledged entry into the South African Development Council market, he said.
