‘Plastic Rath’ flagged off

Our Bureau

Kolkata, Nov. 28 The Indian Plastics Federation, in association with the All-India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association and Plastindia Foundation on Wednesday flagged off the ‘Plastic Rath” from Kolkata on a nine-day tour of eastern India to create awareness among the common man about the usefulness of plastics.

The Rath, according to the organisers, will travel throughout India, stopping at vital spots in the cities such as schools, colleges, market places and commercial areas.

Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, Mr K. K. Seksaria, President of IPF, said the ‘Rath’, part of an all-India roadshow has been planned to showcase safe disposal, usage and recycling of plastics, essentially to lessen the negative perception in the minds of people about plastics.

He said, “We have designed the vehicle with pictorial designs and messages about utilities of plastics in day to day life”. The campaign will be in the form of “nukkad (street corner) natak”, skits, film and CD presentations on LCD screens.
