Dhanus Tech launches FleeTrac

Our Bureau

Chennai, Nov. 29 Dhanus Technologies Ltd has launched a vehicle tracking service called FleeTrac to help companies increase fleet productivity and reduce fleet costs while providing connectivity through voice and data communications from the vehicle.

4The Chennai-based company will invest Rs 100 crore (out of the Rs 130 crore raised from the recent IPO) in the next one year to take the Web-based service across the country, Mr A.D. Sudhindra, Executive Chairman, Dhanus Technologies, told newspersons. The basic package will be Rs 5,000 for installation of the device in the vehicle and a monthly service fee of Rs 500. The company has secured a licence from the Department of Technology for FleeTrac.

It expects to have 42,000 units deployed by the year end.

The company will target sectors such as fleet and transportation, taxi and tourist services, BPOs and financial institutions that engage vehicles for transporting of goods and people.

Every route of a vehicle can be ‘geo-fenced’ and if any deviation from the prescribed route, the device in the vehicle will immediately alert the remote network operating centre. The employee is also given a card to be registered with the device before boarding the vehicle. This enables the centre monitor people travelling in the vehicle.

Mr Sudhindra said the company was in talks with mapping companies to map the routing across the country in the digital form.
