Announcements States - Andhra Pradesh Midhani develops alloys of aeronautic grade
Our Bureau Hyderabad, Nov. 29 The Hyderabad-based Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd (MIDHANI) has developed four alloys, which will find application in India’s strategic projects. These alloys have been type tested and approved by Centre For Military Airworthiness & Certification (CEMILAC) and the Directorate General Of Airworthiness and Quality Assurance (DGAQA). The four alloys are Titan 26A, the creep resistant titanium, which would be used in the Adour engine being manufactured by HAL, Bangalore. The second is a Nickel based cast super alloy which has good adaptability to manufacture cast components of various complex shapes and configuration. Superni 718A, a Nickel-Iron based super alloy developed mainly for making rotating and static components of aero engines for use up to 650 C, is the third. The fourth, a special purpose Alloy Steel, possesses high hardenability, which makes it a good candidate for transmission of power in aero-engine. Dr Dipankar Banerjee, Chief Controller-R&D, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) handed over the Type Approval Certificates of these four alloys to the Chairman & Managing Director of Midhani, Mr M. Narayana Rao, at the function held recently here. Mr K. Tamilmani, Chief Executive of CEMILAC, said that Midhani should play a key role in the development of aeronautic grades of alloys for the multiple aircraft programme including Sukhoi 30, ALH, and LCA. Mr Pulak Sengupta, Director General, DGAQA expressed his confidence that Midhani would further its efforts in indigenisation. More Stories on : Announcements | Metals | Andhra Pradesh
