Indian agriculture should find solutions for better management of intellectual property rights (IPR), according to Mr S.M. Ilyas, Director, National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), here.

Speaking at a panel discussion on ‘Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights’ here on Thursday, Mr Ilyas stressed the need to identify effective and strategic IP instruments in view of the rapid globalisation of farm economy.

Mr R. Hamplha, Chairman, AP State Biodiversity Board, said customs department should play an important role in managing the effective flows of biological resources across the boarder.

Mr Arun Sahu, Commissioner of Central Excise and Customs, Hyderabad, felt that there was a need for capacity building in the Customs Department by including experts from agriculture.

About 25 agricultural scientists and academicians from across the country participated in the one-day programme, according to a release.
