Hyderabad, Nov. 30

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Dr Hector de J. Ruiz, on Friday called on the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, at his camp office and expressed the company’s intent to expand their operations here.

This follows similar announcement made in Bangalore.

Accompanied by some senior officials of AMD, Dr Ruiz congratulated the State Government for major initiatives in building infrastructure and expressed happiness at their Hyderabad R&D centre becoming an important element for the company.

The Hyderabad facility of AMD focuses on consumer electronics, digital TV and mobile TV domain. The Centre here hosts about 500 engineers and plans to scale this up to 700 by 2008, to meet AMD’s expansion plans.

The company stepped up its presence in Hyderabad following the acquisition of ATI, which had a facility here.
