Vedanta to invest Rs 5,000 cr in Rajasthan

New Delhi, Dec. 1 Vedanta Resources, the London-based holding company of the Sterlite group, will be investing Rs 5,000 crore in Rajasthan.

Aimed at putting the desert State in the metal and mineral map of the world, the phased investments will be used for explorations, new technologies and future expansions.

Speaking at a session on ‘Resurgent Rajasthan’ meet, Mr Anil Agarwal, Group Chairman, said: “I am the brand ambassador of Rajasthan in the world. With the support of State Government, we would invest over Rs 5,000 crore here.”

He also made a surprise package of Rs 100 crore towards education and health sectors.

Hindustan Zinc, a part of the Vedanta Group, signed the MoU with the Minister for Industries, Mr Narpat Singh Rajvee.
