Our Bureau

New Delhi, Dec. 1 The Cabinet Committee on Economic (CCEA) affairs has approved the implementation of the revised centrally sponsored scheme for quality control of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homeopathy (ASU&H) drugs with 11th Plan Provision of Rs 225crore. The scheme will help upgrade infrastructure of drug testing laboratories and State pharmacies and enforcement mechanisms.

“This will prove helpful for capacity building of state ASU&H drug testing laboratories, manufacturing units to establish in-house quality control laboratories for batch-to-batch testing of raw materials and finished products for ensuring quality control of such medicines,” an official statement said. This is expected to help such drug units and their infrastructure to acquire international quality certifications for export purposes.

The CCEA also approved implementation of the Development of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy institutions with a planned outlay of Rs 550 crore during the 11th Plan period.
