Sapient KPO unit for capital markets

V.Rishi Kumar

Hyderabad, Dec. 2 Consultancy and IT provider Sapient is setting up a division for knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) in Bangalore to serve the capital markets.

The initiative seeks to address areas of equity research and serve companies in the Wall Street, according to the Managing Director of Sapient, Mr Sandeep Dhar.

He told Business Line that this KPO services arm would build on the large customers that the company already serves in the US and UK.

During his recent visit to Hyderabad, Mr Dhar, who took over as the MD of Sapient in India earlier this year, said that the company is now close to achieving a $500 million revenue rate, and continues to grow at over 30 per cent year on year.

Mr Dhar said that the company had a different business model compared to other technology services providers, who have predominant offshore centres. Sapient continues to have a third of total staff of about 6,000 in markets where it services the clients.
