Cardiology meet in Hyderabad from Dec 5

About 5,000 cardiologists and cardiac surgeons from all over the world will gather here for five days, beginning December 5, to discuss latest methods and technologies that go into cardiology. The 59th annual conference of Cardiological Society of India will be held at Hyderabad International Convention Centre at Madhapur.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, Dr K. Sarat Chandra, senior cardiologist at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences and Organising Secretary of the conference, said the doctors will discuss modern treatment of coronary artery disease and current status of drug eluting stents.The conference will also focus on preventive cardiology and research work on coronary artery disease epidemic. It would also provide a platform for young doctors to present their research work to a global audience.

Parallel sessions

The industry involved in cardiac imaging, cardiac pharmacology and devices used during angioplasty would also be represented at the meet. The conference would have parallel sessions on coronary artery disease, angioplasty, echo cardiography, electrophysiology, paediatric cardiology and preventive cardiology.

Some top names such as Dr Allan Schwartz, Dr Barry H. Greenberg (both from the US), Dr Danial Gras (France) and Dr Dougal Russell McClean (New Zealand) will take part. Dr Greenberg, President of American Society of Heart Failure, will throw light on the latest research in treatment of heart failure. Dr Enas Enas, one of the leading cardiologists in the field of preventive cardiology, will speak on the developments in the area.
