Security States - Other States No major problems along Indo-China border: Antony Sarikah Atreya Gangtok, Dec. 2 The Defence Minister, Mr A.K. Antony, has said that there have been no major problems along the Indo-China border, and the reports of any such "minor incidents" were because of differences in perception. "We have a long border with India and dispute regarding most of them have been settled. There are differences in perception — we have our own perception and they have their own. Yes, there have been some minor incidences, but by and large, the border is peaceful,” he told media persons here today. He denied that there have been any major incidences within Indian territory. “Since the border is still not settled, these minor incidences will continue, but these are just isolated incidences,” the Defence Minister said. Mr Antony denied that China had entered certain areas in the eastern sector and had destroyed some Indian forward posts. Mr Antony arrived here yesterday on a two-day visit. He is accompanied by Army Chief General, Deepak Kapoor, Lt. Gen KS Jamwal, GOC-in-C Eastern Command and Lt General Deepak Raj, General Officer Commanding 33 Corps. Upon his arrival at the Libing Helipad here at Division Headquarters, 17, Mountain Division, the Defence Minister met a delegation of Sikkim Government officials led by the Chief Secretary, Mr N. Chingappa. The meeting, which lasted over an hour, focussed on, among other things, issues concerning the border State, especially the Nathula border trade, official sources said. Later, Mr Antony addressed the troops at the Defence Auditorium. More Stories on : Security | Other States
