CCMB to host meet on genes

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Dec. 3 The Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) will organise a three-day international symposium on ‘Dissecting the role of genes and environment in complex disease’ here from December 6.

The symposium will cover topics such as epidemiology of complex diseases with special stress on diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases, genetic variation in Indian subcontinent, comparison of disease conditions between Indians and Europeans, effect of rural-urban migration on disease prevalence, interaction between genes and the environment, among others, according to a release.

Discussions

Pioneers working in the areas of epidemiology, genetics and epigenetics of complex diseases from India, Europe and the US will participate in the scientific sessions.

The meet will discuss the current status and trends to provide future directions to the above areas of research relevant to complex genetic diseases.

The meet assumes significance as every disease has a genetic basis and genetic susceptibility to complex disorders is variable across different populations.
