Vijaya Bank meet on official language

Vijaya Bank hosted the 45th meeting of the south-based Public Sector Banks Committee on official language in the city on Monday. The meeting was inaugurated by the bank’s Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Prakash P. Mallya, the Committee’s Chairman and General Manager of Corporation Bank, Mr N.R. Shet, Coordinator of the Committee, Dr Jayanti Prasad Nautiyal, and the General Manager, Vijaya Bank, Mr Jayaram Shetty.

A presentation on the progress of Vijaya Bank in the implementation of the official language was made during the meeting. In his speech, Mr Mallya said after the end of British rule, Hindi emerged as the common man’s language and the official language.

Mr Shet emphasised the importance of Hindi in computerisation so that the Government guidelines are complied with.
