‘SBT staff strike uncalled for’

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec. 4 The strike by the employees and officers of State Bank of Travancore (SBT) was totally uncalled for as there is no proposal as of now for merger with State Bank of India,according to Mr Pradeep Shankar, Chief General Manager, SBT.

He said here on Tuesday that the management of SBT had communicated to the leaders of the unions that there had been no discussions on any merger proposal at the board of director level of both the banks.Despite that, the unions went ahead with the strike.
