Chennai, Dec. 4 Chennai-based S4 Ind Software Pvt Ltd has acquired the US-based Carlisle Publishing Services for $3.5 million (around Rs 14 crore). Both companies signed the deal in June, but announced it on Tuesday.

Mr Krishnamachari Srinaath, CEO, S4Carlisle, said the company would offer development, project management, design and electronic services to publishing houses. The company’s existing clients include McGraw Hill and University Press of various states in the US. Its products include college, school, journals, trade publications, directories, medical dictionaries and loose-leaf publications, Mr Srinaath told presspersons. For fiscal 2007-08, the company hopes to do a turnover of $8 million.

The present employee strength is around 225 in Chennai and 75 in the US. S4 had revenue of $2 million while the American company had $6 million. “However, we had the advantages of a better bottomline and of low labour cost to acquire Carlisle,” he said.
